Meet Tyson League

Tyson resides in Carson City with his wife, Emily and their son Maze. Tyson and his wife chose Carson City as their permanent home because of the friendly community, family-oriented events, and traditions. Tyson wants these values to be modeled to their son.

Tyson League earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Chapman University. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from Whittier Law School in 2013. Tyson League began his legal career at the Carson City District Attorney’s Office in 2014.

Currently, Tyson serves as a Supervising Deputy District Attorney. He prosecutes all levels of criminal cases and has completed countless criminal trials in his career. Currently, he oversees the criminal case load in Department 1 inside the DA’s Office. Additionally, he has previously worked in private practice, handling civil litigation matters. Some notable cases in his career include State v. Elvin Fred, where the Defendant pled to Level 3 Trafficking for engaging in the sale of significant amounts of methamphetamine in Carson City; State v. Eric Buhl that involved the death of a two year old child; and State v. Kevin Belcher that involved the sex trafficking three children under the age of 16, two of whom were Carson City residents.

Tyson teaches at CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) and POST (Peace Office Standard in Training) to educate officers about procedures and the law. Tyson was on the board of NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) and has experience working in Mental Health Court. Additionally, Tyson currently is on the Misdemeanor Treatment Court Team. Tyson was voted as part of Northern Nevada’s Legal Elite in 2021. Tyson continues to speak at the National Human Trafficking Awareness event held in Carson City, Nevada to spread awareness about the challenges of prosecuting sex trafficking and how to utilize a trauma-informed approach when working with victims.
